Participants are being sought for Access’s six-week “Small Business Academy”. The program, which is part of the Access to Employment program, starts June 2 and ends July 7. The class will be taught by Killingly Economic Development Director Jill St. Clair and Access Employment Services Navigator Sherry Perkins.

It will meet on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p. m. in the community room at the Willimantic Access office at 1315 Main St. The following topics will be taught: writing a business plan; managing human resources in a small business; where to find financing, marketing and branding, networking, mentoring and sales.

Access to Employment focuses on personal development, empowerment, and financial and computer literacy, as well as one-on-one case management.

The program is designed to eliminate barriers to employment for low-income people in Tolland and Windham counties. People can register for the academy by visiting https://accessagency.org/access-to-employment/ for the google form application. Participants must register by June 1.
