Participants are being sought for\u00a0Access’s<\/em>\u00a0six-week “Small Business Academy”. The program, which is part of the Access to Employment program, starts June 2 and ends July 7. The class will be taught by Killingly Economic Development Director Jill St. Clair and\u00a0Access\u00a0<\/em>Employment Services Navigator Sherry Perkins.<\/p>\n It will meet on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p. m. in the community room at the Willimantic\u00a0Access<\/em>\u00a0office at 1315 Main St. The following topics will be taught: writing a business plan; managing human resources in a small business; where to find financing, marketing and branding, networking, mentoring and sales.<\/p>\n Access to Employment focuses on personal development, empowerment, and financial and computer literacy, as well as one-on-one case management.<\/p>\n The program is designed to eliminate barriers to employment for low-income people in Tolland and Windham counties. People can register for the academy by visiting\u00a0https:\/\/accessagency.org\/access-to-employment\/<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0google form application<\/a>.\u00a0Participants must register by June 1.<\/p>\n
