Jean Ludwig was born in Rockville, moved to Tolland and lived there her whole life with her husband Bud as organic farmers for over 60+ years. And when time came for them to sell the farm in 2019 they really wanted to stay in their hometown. They looked at another senior housing complex but were unhappy with what they saw – too small, no real sense of community. Jean & Bud were among the first to see the newly renovated Parker Place and they knew they had found a home. The rooms were big with a great view, close to their family, easy to access their doctors and places they were familiar with. But they also chose Access Housing at Parker Place because, having mobility issues, it was very accommodating for them: wide hallways/doorways, lots of accessible common rooms, and lots of handicapped parking. Jean lost Bud in 2021 and is grateful for the sense of community at Parker Place, the way the Access staff has helped her to apply for other programs such as energy assistance and the food pantry, and how the maintenance department keeps the building clean and repaired.

Access Housing at Parker Place is an elderly Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) affordable rental housing community consisting of thirty seven (37) units which include 33 one bedroom units and 4 two bedroom units. Two of the one-bedroom units have been designated for Veterans. The two-bedroom units will allow for a live-in aide. The entire building will be fully accessible units and all of the apartments can be easily adapted to meet the needs of a disabled resident as needed.
